Small Animal Exemption Scheme

The Small Animal Exemption Scheme permits certain veterinary medicines to be marketed without the requirement for a marketing authorisation. This Scheme applies to medicines for administration to a number of animals, providing criteria relating to their manufacture, active substances, labelling and pack size are met. All veterinary medicines must either hold a current marketing authorisation, or be marketed under the terms of the scheme. Details of our exemption scheme can be found in VMGN 12: Exemption scheme for small pet animals.
