Cypermethrin sheep dips no longer available

At the beginning of 2010, Manufacturers of the three cypermethrin sheep dips voluntarily withdrew their Marketing Authorisations. None of the manufacturers stated the reason behind their requests. Thus Cypermethrin sheep dip products are no longer available in the UK.

Following reports of serious pollution incidents arising from the routine use of cypermethrin the Government temporarily suspended the marketing Authorisations of the three cypermethrin sheep dip products in 21 February 2006. The suspension stopped further pollution and allowed time to consider whether measures could be put in place to permit their safe use. The suspension also gave time for the Sheep Dip Steering Group to deliver the agreed actions within the Pollution Reduction Programme (PRP). There is a full account of the suspension of these products in the background document that was issued at the time. For more information on the PRP please see the Sheep Dip Pollution Reduction Programme page.
