Official Group on Organophosphates (OGOP)

Background:

In response to concerns about the safety of Organophosphates (OPs) on human health, OGOP was established at the end of 1997. Its terms of reference are:

  • To review the process for sharing information and achieving co-ordination between Government Departments;
  • To draw together scientific evidence and identify any gaps to be remedied;
  • To examine those processes by which OPs are licensed and;
  • To advise whether procedures should be changed.

OGOP is chaired by the Chief Veterinary Officer and has membership from a number of Government Departments.
